Alaska - Salmon Fishing….

With bears!

After an early flight from Anchorage to King Salmon we took a (very) small float plane to Katmai National Park – it’s Salmon season and fishing is open.

This fella came to see us safely off our flight.  They had to move our safety briefing as bears have right of way

This big old bear had the best fishing spot and caught a fish every 10 minutes or so;

Look at the concentration on those faces;

“Hey, that water looks cold”

Just going to dip a toe in to check;

“I’m told if you stand here long enough with your mouth open a fish will just jump straight in…”

Got one;

And then a fight broke out over who’s fish it was… Note the little stealth guy on the right of the picture;

He sneaks in for the steal whilst the others are still fighting;

And runs off with the sushi;

“Who stole my fish?”

This looks more like someone dressed-up in a bear suit that a real bear;

They tell you to leave an hour before your departure time to get back to the float plane as if bears are near the bridge they close it.  See below…..

You can also fish here.  Not sure I would be mad enough as look who may come and visit you;

“Someone said there’s some fish round here”;

“Can’t see them”;

“I just want a little fish…”;
